Hello fellow callers,
I'm theoretically calling the Glen Echo (MD) dance on Friday, but as many
of you know, this is National Park land. If the Congressional standoff
continues, it may very well be that the gates will remain closed.
While things are obviously in flux, there is a possibility that I might
either calling at Glen Echo or at an alternate venue. In either case, I'd
like to incorporate some shutdown-themed dances for our DC folks.
So, in the event that I call, I'd love some ideas for dances themed/titled
around shutdowns, openings, bickering, childishness, etc. What have you
guys got? Any suggestions are happily welcome!

New subject: Shutdown related dances
Up the hall dance:
"Face the Music" by Bill Olson (hmm,.. title might soon be appropriate for other
reasons in the current context!)
A1: Circle L 1/2, 2's swing (face up)
A2: With NEW neighbors, up the hall in line of 4 (1's in middle, proper), turn alone
and return (bend line to face across)
B1: 1's turn contra corners
B2: 1's B&S (face down)
One in a series of attempts at a "more equal" contra corners dance
I often stop the walkthrough in the middle of A2 to "give the band a hand" (and
hence the title..)

Know that Bob Isaacs has at least one (his 2 way street doesn't quite do
what you're thinking, but it has a down the hall, get a new neighbor and
then up the hall). Also, I know that Bill Olson has one, but can't seem
to find his page.

Here's a reverse progression duple improper. 1's and 2's have slightly
different parts, but I call it "equal" (star through vs. 1/2 figure-8):
Road to Somewhere - Eric Black - Duple Proper REVERSE PROGRESSION
A: 1's take "inside hands" [nearest to your neighbor], balance (4)
Star thru (4) [leaves 1's improper facing down]
Do-si-do neighbor [below] (8)
These 4 circle Left 3/4 (8)
Swing partner on side (8)
B: Circle Left 3/4 (6)
Pass thru up & dn (2) [1's are moving UP]
