I frequently call alternating versions of contra-corners dances, although I
have not done so with (proper) Chorus Jig. I most often use an alternating
version of the duple improper Hillsborough Jig by Bill Thomas:
A1) Neighbor Balance and Swing
A2) 1's down the center ALT 2's up the center
Turn as couple, come back, cast off
B1) 1's Contra Corners ALT 2's Contra Corners
B2) 1's B&S, & face down the hall ALT 2's B&S, & face up the hall
Alternating Hillsborough Jig works well when experienced dancers are looking
for unexpected novelty. It has been used in no-walk-through contra medleys
at NEFFA. .... Bob
