Almost every contra corners dance can be made alternating. There’s a good Ted Sanella contra corners triplet which is indeed a good way to introduce it. I also agree that one should teach the corners their role (since they are not moving) as well as the active couple. Also note that chorus jig is inherently gender free. Bob
