I asked Dr. John Ramsay, who I believe originally commissioned the piece
from Pat Shaw, what tempo he likes. Here is his answer:
"Back in 1976 we recorded Levi Jackson Rag at 130 bpm. It is a zippy tune
and dance. Of course, the tempo can be adjusted to the needs of the
dancers."

Yeah, it helps if the number of places the women move (4) is relatively
prime to the number of dancers (in the standard version, 5).
Levi Jackson Rag is also a good dance for math students!
