Hello all,
I've been thinking about buying a small netbook with the intention of
running Callers Companion software on it for calling contra dances.
Anyone have any experience with CC on netbooks or the like? Compatible
with Windows 7, battery issues, memory requirements, etc.
Will, if you're on this list and have time, I'm sure you've got the
most information. I'd like to hear it.

Two years ago, we bought a Samsung netbook as a way of running internet radio to our
stereo. It was cheap, weighs nothing and has an 8 hour battery life. On the downside,
the screen is small. The keyboard is fine for me, but you have long fingers, so I'd
test the screen size and the keyboard under calling-like conditions before buying. Can
you borrow one from somebody?

I've experimented with displaying dance cards on an IPad. Worked wonderfully. I
could keep my whole card file on there and also the file specific to the evening.
It can display using the entire area of the IPad screen. Eventually I'll buy one, but
for now it's 6x4 cards.
Also works well for displaying sheet music.

I call from my Mac Powerbook sitting on a portable conductor's stand.
I always have my cards as backup. Cards don't need electricity and
won't crash.
