Could it take 12 beats to do si so 1 &1/2 and 4 to
walk to the next couple?

I am planning to use a dance soon that I have just collected. Has anyone
called Family Contra by Sheri Nevins? It has a neat progression in B2.
The active couple faces the inactive couple and they dos-si-do around each
other as couples 1 ½ times to progress. The figure takes up the entire B2.
Has anyone found that there is too much music for the figure? If so, how do
you deal with that?
Hi Rickey,
I do not know about the 'Family Contra' by Sheri Nevins: what are the
rest of the figures?
One of my current favorite dances is Al Olson's 'First Fling of Fall'
that I learned from Roger Diggle:
improper:
A1: Ladies chain 1/2 UP AND DOWN THE SET
Dosido partner (up and down the set)
A2: Take Neighbor's handy hand and dosido
as couples 1.5 times.
B1: Balance and swing partner (who is behind
you at the end of A2).
B2: Circle L 1.0 times.
RHTurn partner 3/4, Women LHTurn 3/4
(into the opening chain up and down the set)
For the Dosido as couples that takes up the entire
A2 music, I suggest that folks:
1) take their time
2) take a longer, wider route
so that they use all the music for the dosido.
I only do this dance if there is room enough for
plenty of space between the couples in a set and
between the sets themselves.
