For many years the Dance Gypsy (http://thedancegypsy.com
) has been an
invaluable resource to the dance community, providing detailed information
about dances, special events, bands, callers, etc. The Dance Gypsy is
currently in it¹s annual fund drive but has only received about 20% of last
years donations. Without a dramatic increase in support it¹s quite possible
that it will go offline by the end of the year.
Like a public radio stations, the Dance Gypsy is 100% user funded. And, like
many public radio stations, only about 1% of the users contribute. If you
have every used the Gypsy even once and found it valuable, please consider
contributing. In the past, the average donation has been $31 the cost of
2-3 dances - but the range has been $5-100+ and gifts of all sizes are very
By giving to the Dance Gypsy, you actually are supporting the entire dance
community. Most dance events barely break even, and people often work -
play, call, organize, etc - for free or minimal pay, making it possible to
keep entrance prices down. A resource like the Dance Gypsy helps to increase
attendance at all dance events and in doing so helps the dances survive and
thrive financially so that everyone can keep doing what we love at an
extremely reasonable cost.
Please consider giving a donation of any size to the Dance Gypsy. You can
pay via PayPal or credit card from the donation link on the Dance Gypsy home
page ( http://www.thedancegypsy.com
) or by sending a check to:
The Dance Gypsy, PO Box 2511, West Brattleboro, VT 05303.
PS: I have no connection with the Dance Gypsy other than being an
enthusiastic support of it since the days when it was a photocopy printout
that magically appeared at dances.
