Hello folks,
Last summer i was thinking how nice it is to use a roll away to
start another move, and wrote this dance. (On July 13th, strangely
enough.) Do any of you know if someone else has used the same
sequence?
July 13th Tom Senior Duple Improper
A1 circle Left once;
roll away your N, (women in front of gent),
gents pull by by left to face partner. (women, if so inclined,
can cast Right into the gypsy)
A2 Gypsy swing partner. (or whatever move you like) End facing across.
B1 Forward into a Give and Take, Men pulling Neighbor back.
Swing N, end facing across to take hands in a ring.
B2 Balance ring, twirl right one place,
Balance ring, twirl right one place to face the next couple
(to circle as the dance begins again.)

The B2 petronella into the A1 circle left seems like it might feel a
little weird.

I have never seen this sequence before...in 21 years of calling....and it
looks to me like a great dance. I don't agree with Jeff about the Pet.
twirl into the circle left being weird; I think it would work fine. I will
call this dance at my next gig and let you know how it goes!

Hi Tom,
I tried calling this dance at a Calling Party this week (callers calling to
(mostly) other callers -- feedback encouraged).
I taught it with the ladies doing the cast at the end of A1 (not
optional!). I described it as a "meanwhile move." Gents pull by left while
ladies loop over your right shoulder to meet your partner.
The feedback was very positive. They liked the dance. The one suggestion
that they made was on the call. I was calling "gents pull by while ladies
turn..." The ladies were strongly of the opinion that they needed to know
their move first so I should call "Ladies turn (or loop) while gents pull
by. " It was ok if the gent showed up a little late but really awkward if
the lady hadn't made it around to start the gypsy on time.
Also they said that between that move and the give-and-take it was an
"unusual" dance making it important to keep calling longer than I usually
would.
