Hello everyone,
I believe I have gotten the digest mode fixed - they should now be coming out daily if there are any pending messages to send out. (Digest emails get sent out when the queue gets “full”, or daily around midnight EST if the queue is not full.)
I’m still working on the formatting of the digest modes.

Those titles could be good leads, but beware that when a title is a associated with a 40-bar version of a tune, it may also be associated with versions of other lengths.
For example, "The Snoring Mrs. Gobiel" (a/k/a ("[La] Ronfleuse Gobiel") is indeed commonly played as a 40-bar tune, as in the rendition by La Bottine Souriante at
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvLY38H9R0I
However, the Traditional Tune Archive's page on the tune
https://tunearch.org/wiki/Ronfleuse_Gobeil
shows both 32-bar and 40-bar versions, the essential difference being that the B part is played only once in the 32-bar version and twice in the 40-bar version. The 32-bar version is almost identical to the one in _The New England Fiddler's Repertoire_ (at least in my second edition). I presume the editors of NEFR chose a 32-bar version to fit standard-length contras. The annotations at
https://tunearch.org/wiki/Annotation:Ronfleuse_Gobeil
also mention a version lacking the C part recorded by Jos Bouchard under the title "Reel St-Siméon" and a slightly crooked version recorded by Isidore Soucy under the title "Gigue des vieux souliers" (Old Shoes Jig).
Unfortunately if a tune has been recorded in versions with different numbers of bars, the sample snippets at Amazon and other sites are often too short to reveal which version is being offered.

Erik, I think you mean the Fox Hunter's Reel. The jig is a slip jig; the
reel is a 40-bar tune. Along those lines, Gravel Walks is typically played
as a 4-part, 40-bar tune (ABCDD) when it's played other than for contras so
could be added to your list of 40-bar tunes.
One issue with looking for sets with those tunes in them is that if the set
isn't intended for dancing, the remaining tunes in the set are not likely
to be 40 bars as well. Could be there are a few dance bands that have
recorded 40-bar sets that you'd find searching for the tunes, though.

Here's a nice recording of Little Billy Wilson by Jane Rothfield. I don't know how long it is because I only heard the snippet:
https://www.amazon.com/Little-Billy-Wilsons/dp/B004CQJN8S
I'd look for other good 40-bar tunes like:
* Three Thin Dimes
* Three-way Hornpipe
* The Snoring Mrs. Gobiel
* the 5-part Fox Hunter's Jig
I know there are more, but that might be a start.

Here's a 40-bar singing square from the 1950s. It's only 6 times through, but it's in five 8-bar phrases (two in the "A" part, three in the "B").

I'm going to head off-list and talk to my friend Norb Spencer, accordionist extraordinaire, major tune-hound, and player of all three
likely-to-be-not-32 genres (Oldtime, Fr.C, and Scottish). Watch this space...

As far as Scottish goes, I sent John a recording of a set David Knight put
together for Foggy River Reel, which is done to 40-bar tunes. It's usually
done as 8-8-8-16 (ABABB or ABABC), though, which doesn't really fit what
he's looking for (16-16-16-16-16).
I would imagine there are others on this list who would know of other
recordings for Foggy River Reel or other 40-bar SCD reels.

Patch the Pipes is for an English dance of mine with fairly specific
choreography to fit the tune.. The tune structure is two 8-bar A phrases
followed by two 12-bar B phrases. I wouldn't think it would be a good
choice for a contra dance.
