Well, it's not a quadrille, but La Bastrangue is French Canadian and generally a crowd pleaser. Especially Irish and French ONS dances

Hi all, I am planning an ONS for about 100, mostly adults. The husband of the organizer is Irish, from Ireland, and her dad, I think, is either French or French-Canadian. Do you have any suggestions for Irish, French, or French Canadian dances that might have been popular where these folks grew up, and which would be appropriate for this crowd. The organizer mentioned specifically that her dad especially liked French Quadrilles. Do you have any that these folks might enjoy? Any and all suggestions are, of course, more than welcome. Thanks. A small favor for future dance historians

Dear dance choregraphers, Thank you for publishing your dances in printed form and via the internet. I think we'd be doing a service for future dance historians if we could include an approximate date of when the dance was devised. Also, my own dance database has a field for that date and many of those bytes are going to waste! But thanks to all of you in any case and thanks to you who do include dates. -- Gary

A small request when posting dances...

A small request when posting a dance: Please make sure fractions are fully expanded out, such as 3/4 or 1-1/2. The "built-in" fractions in many fonts appear differently depending on what platform (Win, Mac, etc) and what language encoding you use. For example, in Snake Oil Reel below in the A2, what I see following the "Men allemande Left" is a Greater than or equal to symbol, and after "Allemande Right your neighbor" is a Pi symbol. Of course I can figure it out what is supposed to be there but it would be simpler if we avoided "high ASCII" characters whenever possible. (My guess is that this mostly happens when people post from a Word processing program that automatically replaces expanded fractions with the single character ones that not every font has.)
