Hi all!
I was wondering if you would mind sending me your favorite neighbor
swing only dances (no partner swing). I keep running into situations
where I have a high percentage of beginners who want to dance with each
other and it would help to have them practice the swing with experienced
people early in the evening instead of trying to do it with their partner.
Thanks!
Chris

Dance Party (by Peter Amidon)
Use an ABAB tune (rather than typical AABB tune)
formation: scatter mixer
A: Walk around by yourself
B: Grab someone and swing
A: Walk around by yourself
B: grab someone and swing
etc.
I use the swing I learned from Marianne Taylor
at the Colrain, MA Pourparler (2001)
as a way to learn how to swing and as an
excellent non-gender swing:
You and your partner grab each other's muscles
(upper arms: above the elbows)
You and your partner 'sit back'
(give weight)
Swing.
I love this dance!
By the way, Pourparler is an annual national conference
on teaching traditional dance: both international and
Anglo/American social dance, to children. The next one
is at Folk Village in Wisconsin, Thurs - Sat Sept 29 - Oct 1
2006. Contact: Sanna Longden: SannaMars(a)aol.com
