One description I've seen for the action in B1 begins The two men rise on the first beat of the bar ... I mention that to point out that it's not quite accurate. Actually, they rise on the pick-up note at the end of the preceding bar and then come back down on the first beat of B1, corresponding to the initial "1" in Linda's "1 _ 2 _ 1-2-3-4" rhythm. A tune played to fit Linda's handshake sequence might similarly have a pick-up note before beat 1 (and maybe also before beats 3 and 5) of its A part. --Jim
