Linda Mrosko asked:
Can anyone think of a recorded danceable tune that
would fit the following A1 opening?
Shake R hands with P 1 _ 2 _ 1-2-3-4 (8 beats)
This doesn't exactly meet Linda's specification, but in case it could suggest
ideas to anyone or help anyone to understand what Linda's getting at about wanting
music particularly well-matched to a specific action (and not just a generic jig or reel),
the rhythm of the action she describes reminds me of the series of nodding acknowledgments
in the B parts of the first verse of the English dance "Parson's Farewell".
For those unfamiliar with that dance, here are a couple videos:

Note the actions starting about 0:12 and about 0:22.

Note the actions starting about 0:11 and about 0:19.
One description I've seen for the action in B1 begins
The two men rise on the first beat of the bar ...
I mention that to point out that it's not quite accurate. Actually, they rise on the
pick-up note at the end of the preceding bar and then come back down on the first beat of
B1, corresponding to the initial "1" in Linda's "1 _ 2 _ 1-2-3-4"
rhythm. A tune played to fit Linda's handshake sequence might similarly have a pick-up
note before beat 1 (and maybe also before beats 3 and 5) of its A part.
