I've found the best way to keep people oriented during "the zipper" is to
have them keep hands for the previous pull-by while they figure out who
they're doing the next pull-by with. That way it takes kind of special
effort to get lost/confused and it's easier to see the people who are
putting in that effort and help them correct it.
