Not to mention Lambda variant is already on US soil, and Lambda is vaccine-resistant.
There will come a time it will feel both physically and psychologically safe to dance
again. But it will not be soon.

Susan --
I would cancel.
Delta is projected to keep getting worse through October/November so September will still
be on the upward slope.
Even with your restrictions and outdoors, an unknowing asymptotic spreader could infect
many people, even vaccinated people. The six feet social distance idea was based on the
previous SARS and being outdoors is not perfect protection, nor is being vaccinated.
I'd feel okay holding an outdoors dance if it's all vaccinated and all masked (not
because there's zero risk of spreading but because it's low risk and because
vaccination does seem to be very effective against severe enough cases to be hospitalized
or die, although there's certainly the cchance that somebody could catch it at the
wedding and then give it unknowingly to vulnerable people who didn't even attend. You
could make it clear that there's this risk and encourage people to quarantine after
until they get a negative test result, but you can't make it happen.)
If you're mixing vaccinated and unvaccinated people (people who can't (children
under 12) or people who won't) - well, I'd find the risk unacceptably high absent
onsite testing for everyone before they go on the floor.

Subject: [Callers] Modified Wedding Dance
I am scheduled to provide an outdoor dance at a wedding in Ohio on Sept. 4. The musicians
have bowed out, so it would be just me with recorded music, on formica sheets (!) over a
large brick patio. Here are modifications I am considering:
* mask optional
* dance only with chosen partner, i.e. no mixers
* can swing chosen partner but otherwise hand contact only (e.g. circle, star,
dosidos, AL R&L, sashay)
* no long lines F&B
With these rules I can modify and call:
* big circle dances
* squares
* Sicilian circles
* simple ECD
* longways Ceilidgh or barn dances
* couple dances (e.g. waltz)
* Chicken dance (requested)
What do you think? or should I cancel the dance?
