Some I play a lot:
Perpetual e-Motion (album same name) Electronically enhanced and loops.
Fennig's Allstar String Band. A big part of the 80's contra revival in
the northeast. I transferred 4 LP albums starting with "The Hammered
Dulcimer" to digital. Now they are available as 2 combined CD's from
http://www.andysfronthall.com
Noreaster: "Waiting for the Snow"
Crowfoot: "As the Crow Flies" (samples on
Emusic.com)
Vent du Nord, also on Emusic. These are both Quebecois bands, and may
be a little "crooked." Concert music is similar but may not all be
good for contra.
Giant Robot Dance Band: "Spontaneous Animation". Brass section,
accordian, keyboard, electric guitar & drums. You can hear samples at
cdbaby.com (also download a free 4 track demo album)

One of my all time favorites is "Fresh Wares" by the Groovemongers. It's a
delightful arrangement of tunes, each a jewel. And, it has stood a real
test of time for me. After more than ten years, I still enjoy it.
Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention that one, too:>) High on my list.
