I taught a beginners workshop in Burlington, VT. I believe it was 15
minutes, and it went quicker than I expected. Here is a rough
approximation of what I covered:
-Who is: Partners, neighbors
-Who is: ones/twos (and orientation in the hall)
-Progression (via walking them through a circle, star, circle, pass
through)
-Basic swing
-Ask experienced dancers to dance, HAVE FUN
I think I snuck in something about giving weight (by demonstrating an
allemande).
Good luck!!!!

Gaaahhhh!
I just realized that I have to teach a beginners workshop tomorrow
night. Having not done this before (except informally as a dancer)
I'm
a little nervous. I've seen plenty of them done (both well and
poorly)
so I have an idea of what I want to cover and roughly how I want to
do
it.
Any hints? How much do you prepare/plan/improvise the workshop?
Thanks!
Chris
