One more dance I can think of that allows some rest is
"Marianne the
Magnificant" by Susan Elberger. One other called
mentioned to me he like
the "pause" that occurs when the women crossed and walk around behind their
partner.
When I wrote this dance, as a gift at Marianne's 65th birthday surprise party, I
intended the women's walk around their partners to be mirrored by their partners
turning in place as they went by, admiring them as they go. The women should take the
full eight beats of music to move, so that they arrive just in time to begin the circle
left without a pause. When teaching the dance, callers should remind the women to slow
down to allow for the admiration and for getting to their new places at the right time for
the circle.
