Regarding "Kitchen Stomp" and the Petr Bal and Spin to Rt and the Ring Balance
being split across the phrasing: the first Ring Bal and spin is in the A2, the next in
the B1....
"Kitchen Stomp" by Becky Hill (Twirling Dervish Returns pg 14) was re-written
as "Becket in the Kitchen" (The Rosen Hill Collection pg 8) to get rid of the
Ring Bal/ Petr spin across the A's and B's.....
Note - Becket in the Kitchen may not be suitable for the beginners due to the B1 - Star
to New N Swg..... but probably OK for mixed crowds...

BECKET in the KITCHEN
Becket, counterclockwise
By Becky Hill
A1 - (8) LL F&B
(8) W Ch
A2 - (8) Bal Ring, spin to Rt as in Petr
(8) repeat
B1 - (8) Same four, Left Hand Star
(8) Swing NEW N in the next set
B2: (8) Men Allem Left 1.5
(8) P Swg on the original side
Author's comments: During the walk through, at the end of the A2, after the second
Petr spin, have the dancers turn around and note the new N w whom they will swing after
the Star Left. This reduces confusion considerably.
"Becket in the Kitchen" is a variation of "Kitchen Stomp" an earlier
dance published in Twirling Dervish Returns (1997). The dance was inspired by Jim
Kitch's "Discombobulation" publised in his collection "To Live is to
Dance (1995).

Also, be aware that people seem to have trouble getting to the
balance on time from the chain -- having the balance in the middle of
the phrase can feel odd if the musical phrased don't fit (I believe
Joy pointed out that you want to have the B part phrased to fit).

Walter,
One or two notes about KItchen Stomp. If you have new dancers or
the like, this dance can be unflowing in the B2. If a dancer turns
over the correct shoulder enough times and then steps into the
center for the star, then it can flow very nice. When done properly
the star has a sling shot effect to the next neighbor. I have seen
people turn in the most interesting ways and that would make the
star rushed. The timing on B1 balance can be affected by the star
in B2. Please keep in mind the level of dancers that are looking to
you guide them in fun. It is all about the dancers and the band for
me. Thanks
