Yup. (Or at least, not to my then-knowledge.) My personal collection is
dances I've collected at events (i.e., for the most part, dances I've
actually danced). BTW, last time I checked, there was a surprisingly
small overlap with the dances in my index.
By putting it on SharedWeight does it now become
published and indexable?
(I note you don't currently list SharedWeight as a source but it might be
a good one?)
My sources wIsaacs ("The CD*NY Contra Repertoire") and wJack (Nathaniel
Jack's dances) are both from this list's archive. But you're presumably
suggesting I use the whole archive as a source. I've thought about it, but:
(1) The archives go back to September 2004. That would be a lot of posts
to go through to find individual dance descriptions. I don't think I'm
prepared to put in that much work right now.
(2) Although dance description in list posts are indeed on the open web,
I'm guessing the intent is rarely to "publish" a dance. So I'm not sure
if indexing the archive would agree with the ethos of the list. (It
might even be counter-productive, if it made people hesitant to post
dance descriptions.)
What do others think?
