The *OTHER* NEFFA Festival is coming soon! The 23rd annual Ralph Page Dance Legacy Weekend
(which is sponsored by NEFFA) runs January 15-17 at University of New Hampshire, Durham.
Sarah Dawson and the RPLDW Committee have put together a great weekend, with Lisa
Greenleaf and Tony Parkes as contra dance leaders, music by the Latter-Day Lizards and Old
New England (with White Cockade also playing on Fri. night), and a retrospective dance
session led by Marcie Van Cleave and Sylvia Miskoe to celebrate the inspirational and
varied life of Marianne Taylor.
The Sunday open mike session should be of particular interest to beginning/intermediate
callers. During the weekend, you can apply to be part of the Open Mike session and call a
dance you've prepared. You'll have great musicians behind you on the stage,
appreciative dancers in front of you on the dance floor, and the opportunity to get
feedback on your work from experienced callers who have been doing this sort of thing for
decades. Consider calling a triple minor contra dance, if you don't often get the
opportunity to do so. The dancers know and love this formation, so you'll get
excellent experience in handling a contra in this traditional format. You owe it to
yourself. Go to the Ralph Page Dance Legacy Weekend and have much more of a wonderful time
two weekends from now than you could ever have imagined. For more info go to:
