I agree, Joyce! it's a novelty dance, and I wouldn't call it more
than once in a three year period at this point, and not for a hall
full of experienced dancers.
The original idea was Kathy Anderson's Carmen's Hat, and then I wrote
Carmen's Contra.

Thanks for mentioning this, Mavis.... As a somewhat
bony person, I
did this dance at Folklife a few years back. The lines are very long
there and the dances sometimes go on for quite a while. By halfway
through the dance my hip was KILLING me and I was begging my
neighbors to stop bumping me. I gotta say, it's not one of my
favorite dances.
