I am looking for dances where men are flirting with men and/or women
flirting with women, but not because it is a gender free evening. In my
expereince, same sex interactions in dances often increase the dancers
energy. One I use a lot is "Fisher's Jig" by Tom Hinds
Becket, progressing left.
A1 On the left diagonal right and left through
Right and left through straight across
A2 Hey, women pass right shoulders to start
B1 Women swing OR men swing
B2 Partners balance & swing
The first time I saw this dance Chrissy Fowler was calling it at the Down
East Country Dance Festival in Maine (best caller at best festival). I was
not watching until the crowd let out a hoop and a holler at the first same
sex swing.
Other dances with such good same sex interactions??????????

Of course they all are, to some degree, but I wonder what comes to
mind for you when you think of a flirtatious contra. (And what
would be the characteristics of a flirty dance for you. As someone
with long experience in English dance I think there can be exciting
flirtatious connection without a lot of touching.)
As someone with lots of dance experience but relatively little
calling experience (who also pays little attention to specific dances
or dance names), I'll just comment a bit on the characteristics point:
I know you'll agree for starters that experienced dancers can make a
flirt out of anything. But I would suggest that a dance where you're
constantly having to figure out what you're doing is at least
somewhat anti-flirting, so avoid "difficult" dances.
I find that moving toward a person into a gypsy (or any other move
that allows eye contact) is more flirting than standing still or
turning in place into a gypsy. I don't find ring balance flirty. I
find lines forward/back more flirty with a partner from the
repetition, less so with neighbor or other.
