I also love calling and dancing squares - even though I'm English.
You may find my page useful:

It's aimed at callers with little or no experience of calling squares, and includes a
lot of information about breaks,
with plenty of examples.

Even if you have a 32 bar figure and use a 32 bar
intro and break, the way that squares tend to go it is very likely
that some of the squares will take a bit longer to do some of the moves and before you

the music. So I have taken to using a non-square intro (not 32 bars).
That's certainly not my approach. I use a square tune, and many of my breaks finish
with a swing which will give the
quick squares a long swing while the slower dancers are still getting there. But I'm
always willing to lose the 32 bars
if necessary, and stay out of step with the music until I can get back with it, often by
using a longer or shorter break
as required. It helps that I'm also a musician so I can hear where we are in the tune
and adapt accordingly.
