"Lost the century" maybe.. hee hee..
I wonder if anyone had the opportunity to call Sacket's last night or possibly tonight
(I saw somewhere Sackets II was the 29th). Last year we danced Hull's Victory at Maine
Fiddle Camp on the actually anniversary date and as close as we could to the actual time
of the battle, which was 2PM on August 19 by most accounts. We took into account the
different time zone of course since the ships were off the coast of Halifax..
I still enjoy dancing and calling these old dances and do both pretty often, at least up
this way!

If you've waited this long, you've kinda lost the moment? Not that
you shouldn't, but AFAIK Hull's and Sacket's were written for the
comtemporary celebration

I think it is time to write a dance celebrating
the victory of the Shannon
over the Chesapeake, for the Canadian and British dancers. There is a fine
song about it with a jig tune, so that would work, musically. I'll try to
work up some choreography because the anniversary of that is coming up,
too: June 1.
