While we are on this topic..
Here is a dance I collected a few years ago - but the caller did not mention the name or
author. Without that info - I haven't called it much even thought I really like the
dance
Help will be appreciated
Becket
A1 - Cir L 3/4 - pass thru swing next neighbor
A2 Cir L 3/4 - Swing Partner
B1 Lines for & back - ladies chain on left diagonal
B2 - Ladies pull by right - allemand left shadow swing partner again
thanks,
Mac McKeever

Ladies chain to balance & swing works if it's done like this: ladies join right
hands for a ladies chain, pull by to give left hand to your partner's left hand,
partner courtesy turns his lady, keep left hands together for a left-hand-balance to
swing.
As ever, the teaching is all, imho.

I haven't seen that specific dance. I'm also a little puzzled by the chain
to balance transition.
It looks very similar to "Button Pushers", which I unfortunately don't
know
who wrote. They add a women DSD 1x to mediate the chain->partner swing.
Button Pushers
by unknown
Contra/Improper
A1 -----------
(16) Neighbor balance and swing
A2 -----------
(8) Long lines, forward and back
(8) Women's Chain across
B1 -----------
(8) Women Do-si-do 1x
(8) Partner swing
B2 -----------
(8) Circle Left 3/4
(4) Balance the ring
(4) Pass through to next
It's also close to Airpants by Lisa Greenleaf, which has a ladies allemande
instead of a chain, which leaves them set up for a partner balance and
swing. The B2 uses a DSD 1.5 for progression instead of a balance and pass
through

I am having trouble picturing how the intended
flow would be from the
ladies chain into the partner balance and swing. It seems like it would be
rather awkward.
