Well, Al Olson has written several dances, with four facing four, where the groups of
four progress sideways as in Becket dances.
In some of these dances, the two couples switch place every time through the dance.

Yes, in the sense that this hybrid formation can be danced to
contra-dance moves and calls and understood by experienced dancers
