Well I guess we are trying to differentiate between
the two classes of
participants in a contra dance
Characteristics of class 1:
Ends a swing to the left of the other dancer
Does not change position as the result of a "chain across"
Less likely to be wearing a skirt.
Most often taller than the other dancer.
Traditionally refered to with a one syllable name: men or gents
Characteristics of class 2:
Ends a swing to the right of the other dancer
Does change position as the result of a "chain across"
More likely to be wearing a skirt.
Most often shorter than the other dancer.
Traditionally referred to with a two syllable name: women or ladies
Thus I suggest referring the who classes of dancers either kluse and
acorns. Just like sheep, kluse is both singular and plural.
Appropriately the average height of the letters in kluse is larger than
those of acorns. The correct number of syllables are contained in each
are the same as in their traditional name.
