two places to start: If you don't have Marion Rose's book(s) of family/community dances already, get them. ANYONE that calls weddings should own these -- they're the "New England Dancing Masters" compilations for Canada. Take an especially good look at the Lancers, the one with the over/under arches and the poussette - this is one of THE most foolproof/rewarding dances I have EVER taught. You can also find the (maniacally cheerful) tune in Laurie Hart's collection, and in Ralph Sweet's notebook under the name "AmCF". The Ralph version is especially accessible for US-type contra bands. Try googling the name "Luc Laroche" and contacting him through his (French) website. He does Q-cois dance/song/storytelling residencies in France and probably knows of collections we stateside people don't. When he lived in Quebec he called with the folks that later became the band "Domino." He's quite the character. Cheers, Amy
