I did email him and he sent me a copy of the database in Excel format, but have not
perused it yet. I did not tell him of any other interests in the database. The email
from the archived site does reach Russell.

Folks,
I just dropped Russell a note, asking him about the requirements to
host the database. I subsequently looked at the archived version
(which doesn't seem able to access the actual database), and see that
the page (used to) offer FTP transfer of the database in FileMakerPro
format. I suspect that's the part that made hosting tedious, and
would make migration non-trivial.
I'll pass along word of what I hear back from Russell.
FYI, CDSS is evidently discussing a possible contra dance database
effort. I don't yet know any details.
