There's a simple way to handle that: NEVER Cc multiple mailing lists,
just e-mail each list separately. Few people will be subscribed to all,
and most mailing lists these days are set to reject (or moderate) posts
from non-subscribers -- you're guaranteed split conversations no matter
what you do.
Those of us familiar with netnews/Usenet will feel uncomfortable, but
unfortunately, it's the best option.
