The goal of the intro workshop is to give uncertain dancers the confidence
to get up and try it, and to convey certain basic information like "Don't
clamp down with your thumbs", "Drink lots of water." and "The restroom
is
down the hall on the left." It's not absolutely necessary, but it does help
a lot.
I've had a group of non-english speaking, never-danced-before people (~20%
of the crowd) come in five minutes after the beginning of the dance and
join right in without significant problems. Of course I adjusted my
program accordingly, but it's been a long time since I actually called an
evening's program the way I had it planned when I showed up. There's
always something....
(and aint it fun!)
