Hi,
I am wondering if you have any dances for low numbers of dancers (perhaps 6
or less), when most or all of the dancers are beginners and adults. I am
also wondering if you have any dances (presumably different dances), that do
not require choosing a partner and are good openers for beginner adults.
Thanks as always to all,
Rickey Holt.
May have been talked about already so forgive me if it has. I have been
contracted to call a wedding in Oct. Currently covid numbers are rising in
my area and the bride, groom and I have talked about vaccines (yes),
alcohol (no) and what if.
Normally I do not require a deposit but I do expect payment upon arrival at
venue. The question is: what to request as cancellation payment.
What do others put in your contracts regarding this?
Thanks in advance.
Mary Collins
Hi caller friends,
I’m the president of Toronto Contra Dance and we’re about to survey our membership about when they’ll feel ready to return to in-person dancing, and under what circumstances. We’re expecting that at first dances will be vaccinated-only spaces, probably with masks required. But it would be very useful to us if we knew of other dance organizations that had already begun vaccinated-only dances, so we could learn how that’s going. (Do they require masks? Can people enjoy the dance with masks? Has anyone gotten sick? What adaptations, e.g., slowing down the music, have they needed to make to accommodate mask-wearing? What systems have worked well for verifying vaccination status?)
I had hoped CDSS would be monitoring back-to-in-person dances to inform the rest of us how those ventures are going, but as far as I can tell, they’re not doing that.
Any information anyone can provide would be most appreciated! Back-channel messages welcome! If I’m re-inventing the wheel here, please put me in touch with whatever group is looking into this!
Thanks!
Becky Liddle
Hello SharedWeight community,
I am the system administrator for sharedweight.net. Today, I upgraded the Mailman3 software that runs the lists. One of the new features in this version is automatic bounce processing. That means that if your email bounces a message back to the server enough times, your subscription will automatically be disabled. Unfortunately, it started counting bounces from a long time ago, instead of starting with a clean slate. Some of you may have received a notice that says your mailing list subscription has been disabled. I have re-enabled all subscriptions that were disabled today because of bounces.
I'm hoping that today's upgrade also fixes the garbage characters that some of you see in your digests.
Please let me know if you find any problems.
Thank you for your patience,
Seth

[Lee-Anne Welch- Warren Blier.jpg]
Saturday, Oct. 16th, 7 to 9:30 p.m.
at the Monterey YMCA
We have all missed dancing this last year and a half, please come on down to welcome back the dancing! Local favorite Warren Blier will call, with music by Lee Anne Welch, Sonia Shell & Yvonne Wolbroehl. Expect a slightly slower pace and shorter dances as we ease back into dancing. It will be so good to get together and try this!
In-Person Rules: Open to vaccinated dancers only, proof of vaccination will be checked at the door, and noted for easy admission to future dances.
Well-fitting masks must be worn throughout the dance.
Bottled water will be offered outdoors during the break. Sorry, no potluck snacks yet.

No need to RSVP, just come dance with us!

Hi all,
There's a family dance called "Revive the High Five" that is listed in
The Caller's Box as being by Luke Donforth, but at some point I heard
that Luke said it wasn't his composition. Can anyone shed light on
this? I'd like to give credit where it's due, and it's a great dance.

Hi Kalia!
In the callers box it has this link which Luke lists the dance as his own.
