The Friends of the Guiding Star Grange in Greenfield, Mass. have been purchasing our own insurance on a per-dance basis ($50/event) from CDSS. We do not run a regular series, only a few dances a year on an irregular schedule, so it's not worth it to us to buy at the yearly rate. I don't know what the several other Greenfield dance organizers do. The Grange itself has insurance which theoretically covers any events which rent the hall, but we on the Friends board opted to further protect ourselves with another layer of coverage. I may be nieve but I feel that dancers are honest and will take responsibility for their own well being in the event of an accident .
