Hello friends,
I often use Jefferson and Lincoln as the first dance of the evening
because it employs many of the most basic calls and has an easy
progression. I am looking for a few dances that have a star right, star
left sequence that are appropriate for a crowd with a significant number
of beginners, that I can use as a first, second, or third dance of the
evening.
Any suggestions?

Hullo Rich,
To simply look up dances with a given figure Antony's site is a
marvellous resource.

Naturally one has to look the dances over, or up (as the full
description isn't given), to determine suitability for a given audience.
Last autumn I asked him if it was possible to search by figure(s). He
added that search filter in what seemed like days. Much quicker than it
took me to follow up and thank him.

For the code for a figure or figures, scan the list, or do an on-page
search in your web browser.
I found and was about to enter the Right Hand Star and Left Hand Star
figure codes when I saw the next one, for RH star, LH star. There is
_also_ a code for LH star, RH star.
Rather than a single search button there are those for Figures in Order
(one after the other); Starting with Figures; Containing Figures or
Excluding Figures.
So, not a specific dance or range of dances, however possibly a part of
a solution.
Cheers, John
