I'm trying to come up with the best name for it.
"Community Dance" doesn't feel like a good fit, it is not open to the
community, it is for the incoming Freshman and/or their student leaders.
"Barn Dance" has me worried about hokey/uncool - setting up students
to be opposed to it from the beginning.
"Ceilidh," although hard to spell, does have cool Irish panache about
it. Perhaps "American Ceilidh"?
Make that "Ceili", for these purposes. (The Irish parties spell it
"Ceili"; the Scots and the English following them write it "Ceilidh",
but at least around here Irish is cooler than Scottish, and the extra
"dh" doesn't help anybody.)
