It's a lost art. For me too really!
Folks are so self conscious - trying to count it out. Not enjoyable!So...Join hands with
the 2nd couple - pause - how do you do = 4 beats.
Sort of a "balance the ring" forward 2 back 2 if you want. And we're all
happy!

gent - now the lady go round the gent and the gent go round the gal.
Swing in the middle go on to the next - you say How do you do....
