New England Dancing Masters recordings, though a few tracks like Gustav's
Skoal and Listen to the Mockingbird and others have vocal tracks so are not
usable.
All of Marian Rose's recordings
Amazon for tracks like Cotton Eye Joe by the Rednexx, Cha Cha Slide, Cupid
Shuffle, etc. You can also find some more trad dance oriented recordings
like a wacky, 20-minute Virginia Reel medley from an Australian band.
I still had some big holes like Gustav and Zemir Atik and a lot of singing
squares, so some musician friends I do dance parties with frequently
gathered at my son's house and recorded a bunch of functional tracks that
are very helpful. Not super high fi, but workable for dance party work.
I rip everything to mp3 and use a laptop with SqView software. My backup
is an Android phone with The Amazing Slow Downer for playback. It has some
EQ and playback speed control.
My son and I went together to get a Bose L1 system. It's pricy but its
very light and very good.

New England Dance Masters is an excellent resource for good music. Lloyd
Shaw foundation is another good source.
Dosado.com has lots of more modern music, and offers dance specific Hilton
sound systems. Hilton equipment is expensive, but quality, and durable. I
carried two small Hilton amps in my trunk for over 20 years, and they still
work well.
I use a Custom PA-50 for my small workshops, and that system is well under
$100 when on sale.

Hi All:
I'm doing a session at NEFFA on calling for Barn and Community Dances.
The only missing piece of my information is where to get recordings. I
know there are lots of folks on this list who use recordings. Would you
please point me in the right direction?
Also, do you have a suggestion for a small and portable sound system? I
know we discussed this not that long ago.
