whats in a name ? not always what you associate. A brief explanation, if I may. In todays entertainment section of the local paper was the hype for a music festival this weekend. The live music festival was to include blues, blue grass, rock-a-billy and tradition folk. The event promoter stated he was encouraged that this music was attracting new younger participants who were, "finding real pleasure in these old tunes." Ohhh yea !!!! what was the event called, "So-Cal Hoedown". We could substitute square, contra, round, circle mixer in the above description. In thinking about a name we must think ouside our own jaded dance world we live in. Make like you never heard of an activity called, square dance, Contra Dance, etc. These folks found a new identity for what we know as a "hoedown" that fit their world. I'm sure this will stimulate some creative thinking. Don (been there, done them all) Ward
