If you have any experience leading Civil War events, and are not far from the St Louis area, here's an opportunity for you.
Hermann Heritage Days, Saturday Sept 15, 2018
"We expect a hundred max dancers. The band is local and good but not experienced in civil war balls, however they will be easy to work with. It takes place in a period outdoor courtyard of the White House hotel.
I am looking for a caller who spends less time teaching and more time dancing. I hate it when the caller spends 30 minutes teaching a new dance then 15 minutes dancing. I expect the dance to last 1 1/2 hours, maybe more."
Pay is negotiable. "Hopefully as local as possible so I don't have to pay a big travel expense :) " Hermann is a little ways west of St Louis. The contact prefers a text message. Rather than post his digits on here, shoot me an email.
If it will persuade someone to take this on, I can send you a typical CW program with prompts. --Karen D. in Michigan with weekend plans already otherwise I'd do it
A ceili swing is actually a different hold, at least to ceili dancers. It's a gender-free swing, right hands on each other's waist, left hands grasped underneath.

Hi All:
I learned a swing from Irish dancing, but don't remember what it's called. It's the swing with the left hands joined and arched over the heads of the dancers and the right hands on each others waists. I call it the "ceili" swing...what would you call it?
