Regarding whether newish dancers can/should attend dance weekends, I think
the experience is generally very strong (top callers, top bands, surrounded
by competent to great dancers). Best experience if they've attended one or
two regular dances, but I've seen people thrive with a weekend experience
as their very first time. I've also seen people overwhelmed by the
experience. Hard to tell ahead of time. And as Mac points out, the price
can be a disincentive or at least a challenge.
