Bob,
I've encountered a lot of misconceptions about contra dance when I've
invited people individually, and I imagine that's what's at work here.
I'd ask the MetroMix editor if he/she could explain exactly what about your
listing was not appropriate for 20-34-year-olds. It may be that a change in
wording would help, or it may be purely the perceptions and prejudices of
the editor that is to blame.

I was a bit frustrated by a reply I received from a
MetroMix editor,
regarding the advertising of
Rochester NY's Weekly Thursday Contra.
"I received your note and wanted to tell you that we excluded your listing
feeling that it's not appropriate for our target demo of 20-34."
Has anyone experienced this sort of rebuff? What is the appropriate way to
deal with it?
The advertising is free, so the only way I can think is to get the person
to a dance.
