Agreed about keeping the dances longer than the instruction time!

My general principle is I'd like to have the time doing the dance be at least 1-2 times as long as the instruction.

However, there can be exceptions. If there weren't then some awesome dances would be lost. For example, there's no way to teach Hyde Park in less than the 2:30 it takes to perform it (twice!).

I have had to watch my “bloviating” from time to time, but I try to keep the teaching short and sweet. I have a number of square and circle dances that I call and teach from the set. They can be as much fun as the complicated dances.
