Chiming in from Chicago here to say that although we have a newcomer’s orientation at 7 pm, nobody ever makes it until maybe 715-720 and so as a caller who also leads that session when it’s my turn to call, I have it boiled down to what I think is the most important 10-15 minutes of wisdom and then I call a super easy dance to start that doesn’t use anything beyond what I just taught (how to swing, geography and how to progress.)
