I agree with Jerome statement ... for people younger than, let's say 40. Given the age average of a lot of contra dance groups, I find that this kind of statement does not have any effect anymore. It is hard to find volunteers. Claire, in Missouri.
Few abstract incentives can match the ego-boosting power of asking someone personally: "You're the PERFECT person to help with [name specific need]."
I feel like involving the community in decision making will encourage volunteerism and board membership. Do you agree? Can you give me some suggestions of how to increase volunteerism in our contra dance community?
