CDSS has set up a national cancellations page, and what is useful is that each event can add a donate button to support performers and venues. This button directs you to a page that the individual group has set up (ie CDSS doesn’t set this up for you).
https://www.cdss.org/covid19#cancellations
I encourage you to set up a donations page, let your community know about it, and then get it added to the CDSS page.
BTW, the above CDSS link also has good info about what organizers need to consider when cancelling events.

Our teams have discussed this over the last
few days and have decided to cancel the following
two dances for March, then reassess.
The 2nd Sat Cotuit Dance (Cape Cod) &
The Rehoboth Sunday Night Jammers Dance
Stay safe everyone, and keep being wonderful.
See you the floor soon.

Thanks Lisa! I think most dances should consider cancelling, at least for
now. I've written up a summary:

The Thursday Night Dance Committee (TNDC) has decided to cancel the rest of our March dances at the Scout House due to community health concerns. Even though we have all become quite good at washing our hands, the close social contact of contra has become more of a concern.
At the end of March, we will reassess the situation and make a decision about April.
I’ve also seen via East Coast Contras on FB that Philadelphia Thursday contras have done the same.
Stay well, everyone.

Hi Fellow Organizers,
Being an organizer geek, I'm signed up to some non-local email blasts to
learn what other communities are doing. (Maybe we should each share our
sign-ups so we can join each other's lists???)
Anyway ---> I was totally blown away by a recent e-blast from Belfast
Flying Shoes.
They are running a $15K fundraiser for their 15th anniversary. It sounds so
super inspiring.

From the outside, it seems like it's not only accomplishing a lot of really
great programming goals but that that the fundraiser will likely create a
stronger community overall by pulling folks together. Seems welllll
designed. :)
Also reminds me that Portland Maine has run some similarly amazing
fundraiser campaigns. Maybe there's something in the Maine water???? ;)
Admiring from afar.

As a dance organizer that won't be at the Flurry but would love to hear the conversation, I'm hoping that someone will take notes and report back here.
Anyone?

Hi All :)
Is anyone heading to the Dance Flurry this next weekend? If yes, come join
the Dance Organizers discussion on Sunday from 10:15-11:30. Hilton Whitey
room.
We usually get about 30-40 organizers and have a great time problem solving
some of our common challenges + sharing best practices (things that are
working really well for us!). This year, I think it would be great just to
spend a wee bit of time talking about how we can collaborate/support each
other on an ongoing basis.
Please send me any additional topics you'd like to talk about or
suggestions on formatting so you can get the most out of the session.
Thanks!

Dear Organizers,I am working on putting together a callers' workshop in Lawrence, Kansas, for the third weekend in March. We are also looking for someone to facilitate an organizers' roundtable, for new and experienced dance organizers to learn and share information about putting on events, increase attendance, improve retention, etc.
Is there anyone here who has a lot of experience organizing events, who would be willing to lead/facilitate a session for folks in our region? I'd love to hear from you to see if we can make it work!
