Hi Michael, Sarah, and Justin ... as well as others.

Thanks so so much for these leads on sources! This is SO great!
I had to set aside working on this for a few days but I'm digging into it tonight and it's exciting to be pulling this material together.

Thanks for the help!
:) Emily

Whelp, by the time I got here several had beaten me to the punch.  It’s amazing how many square dance tunes turn up on the session, www.thesession.org, and the North Atlantic Tune List, www.natunelist.net as well.  If there’s stuff you can’t find even then, the Internet tune archive www.tunearch.org is the closest thing there is to a comprehensive database. Its predecessor, the fiddlers companion, had a lot of ABC files.

Hooray for abc – it is SO useful!

A lot of these abcs can be found via John Chambers’ ABC Tune Finder:  http://john-chambers.us/~jc/cgi/abc/find.cgi

Mickey Koth has links to a ton of music resources, too including ABC libraries:  https://www.biteyourownelbow.com/webtunes.htm

And I have a few on the SPUDS website. (Some are listed as reels, some are still under “Couple Dance”)

https://spuds.thursdaycontra.com/TuneLinks.html

If you can’t find anything, a lot of us have our own libraries not posted to the internet, too.

Subject: [Musicians] ABC tune notation for singing squares?

Hey trad dance musicians :)

I was wondering if any of you have (or know if there are files) in ABC tune notation for singing square melodies?

The reason I'm wondering about ABC is that it's so easy to transpose to different keys to accommodate vocal ranges  I can pull the notation from Ralph Sweet's book, put it into ABC notation and then transpose but if someone has already done it, I'd rather not reinvent the wheel.  Thoughts?

(I've posted the same question on the trad callers listserv but I thought I'd check with y'all as well!)

The squares I'm interested in are below.

Thanks :)
