Kalia, Don’t know if any of these will suit. It’s for new callers, not necessarily new
dancers, so the first may be too family dance oriented.
All of the following are Becket formation
My variant of Balance the Star #2 by the McLain Family (at least that’s the title I have
for it). I changed the order of the stars, and also the first do-si-do that was left
shoulder, as why make it more confusing?
A1 Take left hands in a star, balance the star twice
Star left once around
A2 Take right hands in a star, balance the star twice
Star right once around
B1 Ladies do-si-do by the right shoulder (Neighbor do-si-do, if you have kids and adults
and genders all mish-mashed)
Gents do-si-do once around (partner do-si-do if did neighbor)
B2 Circle left once around
Slice left to the next couple
Bride and Groom Reel
Merri Rudd
A1 Circle Left 3/4
Swing neighbor
A2 Ladies allemande right
Swing partner
B1 Ladies chain
Chain back
B2 Long lines forward and back
Slice left
Is This Reel?
Christine Hale
A1 Do-si-do partner
Swing partner
A2 Circle left once
Ladies chain
B1 Long lines forward and back
Swing the NEXT neighbor (not the one you chained to)
B2 Promenade across the set
Gents allemande left 1 1/2
Note that this could be a non-Becket if it started at B1. Also A1 could be balance and
swing partner or spiral (we’ve been using this in lieu of the g-word) and swing partner.
