Linda Leslie and I plan to be at RPLW on Saturday and Sunday. We wouldn't dream of missing this very special, annual event. RPLW celebrates the distinctive history of New England contra dancing. Attending RPLW will give the discerning, up-and-coming caller (yeah, you!) a rich, in-depth, historical context that will help you develop into a well-rounded and knowledgeable dancer and caller. Be sure to dance with the white-haired gents and ladies who knew Ralph Page, Ted Sannella, et.al. "way back when." You'll hear some good stories and be amazed at their dance skills. In order to be considered for the Sunday Open Mike session, you'll be asked to write down the name and the formation of the dance you wish to call. If you've ever wanted to try calling one of the old triple-minor, proper contras (such as "British Sorrow," a nineteenth-century dance that Ralph Page rediscovered), this is the place to do it. Whatever you call, be well prepared! The dancers are friendly and patient, but you'll want to give them your best when you're on stage.

Subject: [Callers] Ralph Page Legacy weekend

Anyone going to the Ralph Page Legacy weekend in Durahm, NH this weekend? Some of the features:

Callers workshop by Tony Parkes Satuday morning.
Callers workshop by Mary DesRosiers Saturday afternoon.
Open Mic. session on Sunday.

A great opportunity to learn more about the history of contra dancing and to learn from people with tons of experience.

Check out http://www.neffa.org/ for more information, including a schedule.

I will be there for the callers workshops. The rest is up in the air at the moment.
