thanks Bob, I see now this is not as straightforward as I anticipated!

The tune you link to is not familiar to me.
The way the band leader referenced this -- "something my bandmates and I put considerable effort into, learning the contra-specific sets passed on to us by Sue"-I had the idea that perhaps this set was very familiar in the contra world.

They melodies that stuck in my head from this set  must be from a different tune or two.

I have just done my best to provide something reminiscent of these melodies on my recorder, at the tempo and style the band played them at, in a little recording attached here.  forgive wrong notes and uneven timing :D

This is what I specifically found it hard to call my typical easy contras to, in a way that was exciting for the dancers.  curious: do others find this difficult or is there some personal bias I have against these little melodies? :)
