Here's a version of the dance; I prefer it played much less politely and a bit faster, and I want the A1-2 to have the people who aren't going forward to hold their ground while their partners get right up in their faces, but this nonetheless gives some of the flavor.

I have two contra dances that use variations of the dolphin hey's first cousin, the dolphin gypsy, where both couples work in tandem and exchange the lead. Inspired by Tanya Rottenberg's classic Delphiniums and Daises, Dolphiniums and Daisies uses a dolphin gypsy sliding past both people in the other couple ( http://youtu.be/K81dAxYAHJQ ). In 12th Night ( http://youtu.be/5vDDNh0ECaI ), you only pass one before you gypsy half and change who is in the lead.
